Where to Go For That Puppy?

Are they Professional Breeders Who Really Care for Their Breed or are they just Puppy Millers?

Checklist:

1.  Can you view both parents?  If not, why not?

2.  Can you view the conditions the puppies are living under?

3.  Is clean water available and faeces regularly removed?

4.  Is there a vet recommended diet fed to the puppies?

5.  Are the parents and puppies vaccinated?

6.  Are the parents and puppies wormed?

7.  Is the veterinary paperwork local to the kennel?

8.  Have you checked out and called the vet clinic quoted?

9.  If you have to meet somewhere otherwhere than the kennel, why?

10. Is the puppy clean and healthy?

11. Does the puppy have a healthy smelling body and breath?

12. Has the puppy been running with siblings, parents and/or other dogs for adequate socialisation up to at least 8 weeks of age?

13. Is the puppy confident and energetic?

14. Can the breeder provide references from other buyers?

15. Can the breeder permit comment from their vet?

16. Does the breeder offer a return to base warranty?

17. Is the paperwork original? Genuine breeders show you original pedigrees, vaccinations certificates and receipts. If not why not?

Photocopies are not acceptable without references to those providing that paperwork, namely vets, registries, referees etc.

Imperative:

Does the breeder have genuine paperwork from a respected registry and have you been able to establish that?
