We're getting too many calls from people telling us that their dogs are being seized and impounded because they are 'of the type', and ordered de-sexed.

We know there are two sides to every story but on closer inspection too often 'the type' is getting found guilty by default.

Rodney Hide is your Minister for Local Government.  We would urge you to conact him and defend your dog (especially if you feel that excessively heavy tactics have been used as we are hearing to a worrying degree) - including evidence that your dog is a normal loved family pet.  rodney.hide@parliament.govt.nz

Robyn Kippenberger is now the face of the RSPCA. If your dog comes back from the pound injured and/or sick, contact her.  info@rnzspca.org.nz

Talk to the media.  They just might get it once enough of you show them how we and our dogs suffer thanks to their hype:

Meantime, until Mr Hide revisits the dog control bylaws in 2011 it would be wise to keep your dogs out of sight as it would seem that councils are rounding up and de-sexing as many as they can in the interim, and their charges are phenomenal.
