Whether you want to adopt or have a dog needing a good home, here are a few points to consider before you take/give a dog.

1.  Get confirmation of the identity of the people you are dealing with.  That can include driver's license number, power or phone bill details, car registration, dog registration details.  You could be about to adopt a stolen dog or give your loved family pet to the sort of nutter who looks for 'bait' dogs.

2.  Get/give the name of the vet the dog has been seen by.  No vet history is a red flag.

3. Collect or deliver the dog to the address involved and visit the neighbours before you conclude the deal.

4.  Pay a re-visit a couple of weeks later to ensure the dog is still where he should be. If not, tell us.
