An Arrogant & Ignorant Media in Action.

Loot/Buy Sell & Exchange (ACP Media) & Zillion do NOT discriminate against the American Pit Bull Terrier or other breeds - we suggest you support their enlightened and non-judgemental position while TRADEME (Fairfax Media), APN Media's SELLA, FINDA, and NZ HERALD deserve a boycott.
Loot are offering 2 weeks free advertising and unlimited photo uploads for August 2008.
Loot South Island website: www.bse.co.nz - paper circulation Sth Island 120,000
Loot North Island website: www.loot.co.nz - paper circulation Nth Island 80,000
Zillion - much cheaper than Trademe and totally NZ owned & operated: www.zillion.co.nz
The folk at Zillion advise that we're better to list our dogs on their classified website Happysheep: http://www.happysheep.co.nz/
Unlike an auction, happysheep gives sellers and buyers a chance to check the suitability of a new home or the availability of genuine paperwork, whereas an auction commits the buyer or seller and fees are non-refundable. It is free to advertise with Happysheep.
The extent of the appalling ignorance and prejudice was evident when I called the Herald to check their position regarding Pit Bulls and was told by the operator that unless I was a registered breeder I couldn't place an ad. Registered with whom? When that failed, she advised me that all Pit Bulls must be neutered. Not yet, madam - although it looks imminent it hasn't actually passed into law yet. Unless legislation is written by the media and the politicians play catch-up (which isn't an altogether unbelievable notion), the mainstream media needs to have a good look at itself.
Rachel called me back from the NZ Herald to say that they will only advertise neutered Pit Bulls - despite the fact that this legislation has not been passed into law.
How do they sleep nights?

Dear Karen
There seems to be confusion from my last email and I refer you to our mention of American Pitbull Terriers on our site:
There are a number of items you can't list on sella. Please check that your listings do not include any of these items:
* Sale or exchange of the following breeds of dogs:
o Argentinian Dogo
o Japanese Tozo
o Brazillian Fila
o American Pitbull
We shall keep an eye out for the listing and shall moderate it once it comes through
Regards

thanks ******** - but you are incorrect, pit bulls are not banned, only the import and export of dogs, embryos and semen. they have been placed on the 'menacing' list along with other fighting breeds requiring that they are muzzled in public etc, but they are not illegal.
sadly, the breed does not deserve it's awful reputation, nor does it deserve what has happened to it here in our country. i have placed the ad again. hopefully it will remain as people need to be warned and protected if they choose to buy this fine breed.
cheers
karen.

Dear Karen,
Please note that this listing was declined as our system identified American Pit Bull Terrier in the heading and as this is a banned dog in NZ, has declined the listing - we sincerely apologise for this
Please resubmit this listing and we shall moderate it
