American Pit Bull Terrier Association Inc.

Applicants wanting 6 generation certificates for dogs with no proof of breeding or ownership need to contact their breeders for the following:

1. A signed letter posted or emailed stating that they bred the dog/s and how they are bred (along with any other documents, photos of parents, matings where possible) and stating that the applicant is the lawful owner of the dog.

2. Proof from the breeder that they are the providers of that paperwork (a copy of a power or phone bill header or other formal i.d. showing the verifier's name).

Where breeders are deceased, uncontactable and no recognised paperwork can be supplied then only provisional registration can be provided.

Since it is so easy to create an identity, email and contact details in another person's name, signed letters alone are not sufficient since the author is unverified as in the example below.

Such a letter is not an acceptable basis upon which ownership can be transferred or pedigrees supplied.

As it happens, the letter supplied is genuine.

Owners of dogs already registered need to supply dated photos of matings and date of birth of litters, along with full kennel names, head and body shot of each pup and details as per our application form which can be obtained on request.
